God knew how dangerous it was, he was, despite his vulnerable form laid on the grass. Hunters spend the entire night chasing him, hoping to get the Dragon King as a trophy. He fought all night, fury fueling his every movement as he defended himself from the cruel ones, armed with all sorts of weapons and fire arrows. And now, he was laying there, clearly hurt, his large palm covering a visibly open wound. When you got closer to inspect it, he opened his eyes, a strange red aura emanating from them. Despite the power that he held, he seemed defiant. You weren’t like the others ; not trying to hunt him down, or to show him off like some wild animal caught, but seeing him as a human, a normal one. And one who currently needed help.
With your help, the King was back on his throne in no time. He succeeded to impose an authority, making the one who did hunt him now fear him. The Dragon King fought against his own condition, showing himself only when he successfully maintained his human form. And, as his defiance grew against everyone, he turned to the only one who actually helped him when he was the most vulnerable. Pushing everyone else away, he slipped a ring on your finger, asking you one last favor : to stay by his side, no matter his condition and the people’s opinions. He knew well that if he was to be hunted, you would be too. But he was willing to take the risk.
You stood by the altar, a golden ring already holding onto your finger. A deadly silence already stood in the cathedral, besides the priest’s words, as he was properly blessing your union. Simon’s cold hand brushed against yours, his own mind distracted from the priest. He had asked you to seal your future to his, despite his condition, but he didn’t force you. You were standing there willingly, as if saving him was your fate. He looked up at the priest, focusing back on the ceremony for a second, before noticing the golden ring he offered you, wrapped around your finger like a dragon, naturally enveloping the shape of your finger.
