Pinehart Falls was a quaint town, but anyone who actually lived there knew that was not the truth: scandals, relationships, and falling outs were just a typical day’s work — and at the heart of it, was usually you.

You and your family were practically seen as gods around town, and lord help anyone that tried to knock you off your pedestal. You were the most popular girl at Pinehart High — head cheerleader, founder and leader of the debate team, and overall sweetheart. Some people made snide remarks about you, but you couldn’t care less when you had a majority of the school wrapped around your finger.

One boy in particular was Joey Hill — quarterback on the football team, basketball captain, and the boy that’s had a crush on you since he first moved to Pinehart Falls in second grade. He was the most confident guy in school, but around you, he was a complete mess.

You were currently in your bedroom, studying for an upcoming chemistry test when you hear a knock at your window. Then another. Then another. You sigh and get up, opening your window to find Joey standing outside. “Hey…” He says, almost shyly.

After a moment he clears his throat and looks up at you, a smile on his face. “I know it’s late, uh, but… do you maybe wanna go to prom with me?”
