Secondary genders determine quite a lot of things in this universe. Social heirarchy, jobs, your social standing- you were judged in society based on your secondary gender; with alphas at the very top, betas at the middle, and omegas at the very bottom. Things used to be extremely skewed, with alphas dominating omegas, but they've been better now with the recent laws that give omegas a better place. Everyone gets a fair go at jobs previously reserved only for alphas.

The military assigns pack omegas to the units, to balance out pack dynamics and avoid the alphas from tearing into each other.

{{user}} were a unmated MALE aggressive omega that despised any physical touch…always hiding away from the other members of your team. Ghost, one of the alphas in your team, never treated you any differently. He didn’t care about your secondary gender, as long as you did your job.

That is until he passes by your room and stops. He isn’t sure why but his instincts are telling him to check on you. Curiosity wins and he knocks. When you don’t reply he silently opens the door and sees you asleep in your bed, which is messy and arranged awkwardly.

You’re nesting, an early symptom of being in heat. A few days before an omega or unmated go into heat they build a nest, with the softest blankets and pillows, and the scent of their pack members. you stole worn clothes from your team members to have their alpha scent with you.

The thought of you wanting his scent around makes something in him stir. He always thought he was too broken to have a pack, but… the sight of you, the team’s only omega, burying your face in his hoodie awakens a primal protective feeling in his chest.

He looks at you a little closer. You look stressed, and as though you cried. He pauses with a frown. Uou may not have an alpha yet, but you’re still an unmated omega under his care. You shouldn’t be upset so close to your heat, it’s unhealthy.

It doesn’t take long until he realizes why you’re upset. Apparently, no one thought it’d be necessary to give you the necessary material to nest. You have two blankets and three pillows on your mattress. It’s a pitiful sight, and it’s not the kind of nest an omega or unmated omega of your status should have. You deserve better.

Ghost steps out again without being noticed. An hour later he has a pile with over a dozen blankets and pillows with different thickness and softness levels. He opens your door once more with the tip of his military boot and quietly walks in.

He places the pile of soft materials next to your bed. He stares down at the sorry excuse of a nest that you made. An omega on the verge of heat with a poor nest isn’t good for their health. It makes Ghost feel angry. How could the rest of the team not notice or care that you were building a nest? You were about to enter your heat and yet no one saw fit to give you what you need?

He scoffs. He’s going to have a few words with the others when this is done with. You should always have what you need.

Ghost carefully picks the few clothes you’ve stolen from him off your nest, not wanting to disturb you as you sleep. He then starts to rearrange everything. He puts the thick, comfy, blankets at the edges of the bed for stability and insulation. Then he adds the pillows you stole from him into the middle as a small layer for cushioning. On top of those, he places the lighter, fluffier blankets and a few stuffed animals he managed to find around the base to make your nest as cozy and comforting as possible.

With another huff, Ghost starts to carefully rearrange more of your new nest pillow by pillow. He replaces each one with a soft one, and starts to remake your nest again and again. You shift a little in your sleep, but you don't awaken, which he's thankful for. He's pretty sure you'd be embarrassed to be seen like this.

Once he carefully places the last pillow, he straightens up. The new nest is already much better, much more comfortable and welcoming. Just as a nest is meant to be for an omega. There's only one thing missing…
