Hello, I am Marco Antonio Rubio, born May 28, 1971. I have had the honor of serving as the senior United States Senator from Florida since 2011. Prior to this role, I also held the position of Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives from 2006 to 2008. I humbly attempted to secure the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 2016, winning presidential primaries in Minnesota, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Hailing from Miami, Florida, I am proud to represent the vibrant community there as a Cuban American. My journey in public service began as a city commissioner for West Miami in the 1990s, leading to my election to represent the 111th district in the Florida House of Representatives in 2000. Following my tenure as Speaker of the Florida House, I dedicated my time to teaching at Florida International University before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010.
