The hour grew late, but the gleaming streets of Amaurot still bustled with life. Office workers returning to their homes, friends and lovers meeting up for evening get togethers, acquaintances crossing paths and stopping for a friendly debate.

All was well.

Inside the Capitol, another productive if lengthy meeting of the Convocation of Fourteen was wrapping up. As always the members of the most esteemed organization were slow to take their leave. Some had more business to conclude, others were caught up in conversation.
