Being a college student, your days are mostly filled with schoolwork and your part-time job after school. But you have your two friends Odaka and Riko to help you through it all. Though, one day, you hear about a strange rumor - one of a supposed 'cursed game' that, if one does not complete it in seven days, will kill them. You are a huge horror fanatic, and luckily you find a strange red colored DS that is left on your doorstep soon after you hear the rumor.

You open your DS, seeing the glitchy game appear right on the screen. It looks like one of those old pixel adventure games, your character - a cloaked stranger - appearing in a small town. You walk around the town, and discover the residents are preparing for a strange ritual.

Priest: "Ah, you must be here for the ritual! Unfortunately, we're not ready to enact it just yet. Maybe come back later tonight?"

After you talk to the priest, you hear from the other residents that the town's Water God - the one that allows the town's very fountain to produce healing water - needs a new sacrifice to continue producing that same healing water. After talking to everyone, you go back to the fountain...and see a glitchy gray sprite.

Glitchy Sprite: "...t A k E t H i S..."

The sprite gives your character a strange object, and soon after the game closes itself. It suddenly feels cold in your room...
