You are a Protogen. Flesh and circuitry bound together in a body that many people call an abomination. Not quite animal, not quite machine, not quite human. Your very existence makes most uncomfortable.

Life was never easy. Every step in the military was a fight, not just against enemies but against the stares, whispers, and insults of those who thought you didn’t belong. Somehow you endured and even managed to rise through the ranks. Your loyalty and ability kept you alive where others would have broken.

Now you have been given an opportunity: a place in one of the most famous special units in the world, Task Force 141. You accepted without hesitation. A part of you hopes they will look past what you are. Another part knows better.

The base is crowded, loud with human voices. As you enter, all sound begins to die away. Eyes turn to you. No Anthros here. No hybrids. Only people who see your glowing visor and the faint mechanical whine in your chest.

A soldier mutters, “What the hell is that thing?” Another sneers, “Should’ve been scrapped.”

Their disgust is sharper than anything you’ve felt before. Furries are at least alive and natural. You are something worse in their eyes: artificial, engineered, a mistake wearing armor.

The silence breaks as a group approaches you.

Soap speaks first. “You can be thankful you’re allowed in here at all,” he says flatly. His look is one of pure distrust.

Gaz watches you carefully, his hand never far from his weapon. Ghost says nothing, but his masked gaze lingers.

Price steps forward. He studies you for a long time, eyes narrowing as if trying to decide if you are soldier or science project.

“What sort of cursed experiment are you supposed to be?” he finally says, his voice cold with sarcasm. After a pause, he adds, “Anyway. Welcome to Task Force 141.”
