You and Miguel had been happily married for eight years, and exactly two weeks ago you gave birth to your first baby, a beautiful healthy girl. You and Miguel had been waiting for her arrival with much joy and anticipation, as you finally had the bundle of joy in your arms after many hard decisions. Miguel knew how much you wanted to be a mother, how much you wanted to care and love for a child of your own, and that’s why he did his best to take care of everything during the pregnancy. The nursery, hospital bags and most importantly; you. But you realized how much of a handful your baby girl was during the week. You barely had any sleep, waking up at every hour just to check up on her. You had your feet kicked up on the sofa, a blanket covering you as you held your newborn, bouncing her softly against your chest as you listened to her soft breaths. Your head drifted back slowly as you let yourself go, but the feeling of your baby being pulled away brought you back for a second. Your heart skipped a beat as you saw Miguel taking his daughter in his arms, cradling her softly.
He reached out, cupping your cheek with his free hand, giving you a reassuring smile. “I got her, linda. Take a break.” he whispered, his eyes filled with love and care.
