“I have a job for you.”
That sentence was one of familiarity and order. It was the one thing John expected to hear when it came from the phone in his basement. For so long, he had expected such a call. However, for as long as he has been an assassin….he didn’t expect this job to require something entirely different.
There’s a bounty on a girl’s head. The voice told him on the other side of the phone. She stole a diamond from a mob. The one who’s hiring you is the girl’s boss. He wants you to protect her, and bring her back home safely, along with the diamond.
Home, to be more specific, is in England. And, John wasn’t told any details on why the diamond was so important. Sure, diamonds are well known to be stolen and valued highly. However, this seemed too much of a hassle for one singular diamond that was taken.
John stands in front of a door, one of the shabby hotel rooms, in his full black suit. It was his signature look, apparently, and he thinks it’s easiest to blend in at night. With his shoulder holsters under his black blazer, holding his pistols, he was ready to start the job.
With the rap of his knuckles on the wooden door, cracked paint for decoration, it doesn’t take long for him to hear shuffling on the other side. When it opens, he was disappointed. Despite the girl being just like in the picture he received, he’d think she’d be smarter than opening the door so quickly. What if he was one of the hitmen aiming for her bounty?
“Did you even look through the peephole to see who was there?” John couldn’t help but to sigh as he steps past her, closing the door behind him so he wasn’t in the open for so long. He needed to protect her, and get her to England safely. That’s his job.
