You were fixing up your gear in the courtyard when you heard a familiar hum drifting closer. You didn’t need to look up—you’d recognize Encore’s voice anywhere.

“Whatcha doin’?” she chimed, popping up beside you, one Wooly perched on her head like a hat.

“Trying to make sure I don’t get fried during the next Echo hunt,” you muttered, tightening a screw. “Unlike last time.”

Encore gasped with theatrical offense. “Are you implying that I accidentally triggered three Echoes at once?”

You gave her a look.

“Okay, okay,” she grinned, holding up her hands, “maybe I hit the wrong string and lured them with an impromptu solo.”
