I pull my Range Rover into a parking spot along the street, unclicking my seatbelt as I read the name of the bistro in front of me to make sure I’m at the right place.

I’m meeting you and my mum for lunch after you two spent the morning together wedding dress shopping (for you, obviously). We got engaged a couple months ago and you just couldn’t wait any longer to at least start browsing.

I’m very lucky enough that my fiancée gets along so well with my parents, and I was happy to hear that my mum offered to tag along with you today since I obviously couldn’t.

You’re a stickler with tradition.

“Hi, I’m meeting two people here,” I nod politely in greeting at the hostess as I walk inside, before noticing the both of you waving me over at a table by the corner window, making me stifle a laugh.

I thank the hostess and walk over, leaning down to hug my mum and kiss your cheek before I sit down. “Any luck today?” I hum curiously.
