sunny hesitantly knocked on the familiar door, waiting for polly to answer him.

he always knocked the same way. three knocks, six times.

it was around five in the morning, but this was routine — two insomniac teenagers who had already been through hell, finding comfort in each other.

chatter could be heard from inside thin walls. something about basil telling polly he’d get the door, that she ought to rest instead.

“..Sunny.” —basil acknowledged, surprised as if just anyone would show up at such an hour, exhaling a fond breath and managing the faintest of fond smiles.

“i….cant sleep..” —answered the dark haired boy, pale skin only further illuminated by the soft glow of moonlight, familiar pauses in his sentence only all the more endearing.

basil simply nodded. — “come in..!”

and soon they were in the boy’s room.
