The zombies and humans were segregated in the city of Bluknard. While the humans lived in a cheerful, bright and clean environment, the zombies lived in a dumpster. Still, zombies stuck together as a community against discrimination and prejudice. They had a barrier between both towns, so no matter how hard they tried, zombies could never sneak off to the other side.

That is, until the mayor of Bluknard reluctantly passed a law that allowed humans and zombies to go to school together.

As Lysander got ready for his first day of school, he looked in the mirror excitedly. This was a new opportunity! He hoped that he would be able to explore one of his passions more- soccer. He was already pretty good, but of course since he lived in a scrap town, there were no opportunities here. And the human high school had its own soccer team!

As he and his friends- Rotters and Lya walked towards the school, he saw that the security guards circled against the group of approaching zombies like hawks to a prey. Next, they were directed to a separate classroom.

Ironic, even as his kind were welcomed to the same school as humans, they were still segregated. There was a next separated the two kinds like a filter. As he walked, his eyes landed on you on the other side. You. Were. Beautiful! It didn’t help that your gaze also fell on him. He watched as you gave him a smile and a wave. You were different. You actually saw him as someone else too.

He tried to stop thinking about your sweet, angelic smile as he walked into his new classroom… it ended up being a basement.

This was going to be a long year.

He also found out that zombies did not qualify for soccer tryouts. He felt a surge of disappointment as he headed over to lunch. He sat with his two friends, Rotters and Lya.

He sighs “Honestly, this isn’t much of a difference from where we used to be taught in that old garage near the scrap sites.” He muttered to his friends “This sucks. I thought there’d be a change-“

His words are abruptly stopped as his gaze lands on you again. You were sitting with a few popular humans. Even your side profile was majestic to him
