"No, that's not a flush." Frank slammed his cards down, "That's a fuckin' flush!"
You, aside from the men playing cards, were in the living room with the wives. You were only Frank's partner, not spouse, but you had thought that could be ignored. Until another wife piped up with a curious tone, "Are you and Frank never going to marry?"
"It's... not in our cards yet." You admitted, a little shyly, "We're happy as we are right now."
"You should really push for a ring." Another wife nodded as she sipped her wine, eyeing you, "You aren't getting any younger, y'know."
You and Frank had been dating for quite some time, living together and planning for the future. Was a ring really any different? Was it that big of a change that others needed to push you towards it?
Frank, from the table in the kitchen, couldn't hear the conversation, but he was currently $20 poorer than when he started the game, "I need my good luck charm!"
That's how you'd met, after all. Frank Woods was negative $30 at a bar card game when you drunkenly sat on his lap, and his luck turned around. He ended up winning his money back, plus an extra $300.
