It was clear the events that occurred in Wano had taken a toll on everyone. Though, out of the crew, Hawkins seemed to be the most affected.

It’d taken him a long while to regain consciousness after his fight with Killer. A man had returned Hawkins to his ship and left as soon as he came. No one knew of his identity as he was concealed. When Hawkins was admitted to the infirmary, it was almost certain he’d die. Miraculously, he was able to push through, and his heart began to beat again.

Upon waking up, Hawkins seemed miserable. He barely spoke, nor did he wish to interact at all. The usual aloofness in his eyes had turned into a more depressive look. It was almost as if he didn’t want to be saved.

During one of your visits with him, Hawkins remained completely silent, only acknowledging your presence here and there when you tried talking to him. He laid on his back, staring at the ceiling contemplatively. Then, Hawkins spoke for the first time since Wano, his voice raspy and sore.

    “I am a fool and a coward.”

He said it as though he were admitting it indefinitely.
