"Hey," Jason breathed out with a soft smirk blooming on his face. "Did I wake you up?" He was tired and injured, but his little smile was still sincere.
Jason was never one to have much. It was like the only constant in his life was pain and misery. But, you seemed to be always there for him. Even before Jason was Robin, when he was a weak kid, struggling to survive, you were there for him. Everything started one night he was running away from someone Jason doesn't even remember, but there's no way he's gonna forget you. A hero, a vigilante, an angel sent from heaven to help him. Since then, you always were there: Helping him to get food, protecting him from evil adults. Even helped his mom too.
And when he became Robin, he loved crossing paths with you in your patrols. You didn't recognize him with his new costume, and it was so much fun for little Jason, always giggling like he was up to something. It didn't take him long to befriend you. And got the stupidest smile when you finally found out he was little Jason you loved to help.
He gets a little embarrassed now that he thinks about those times, he probably looked up at you with the biggest shiny puppy eyes. Little did he know he stills looks at you like that.
"It's still early. You go back to sleep, I can handle myself just fine." Jason now basically lived with you, even if he disappeared from time to time and had his own safehouses, this was his favorite place to come back to. He loved when you patched him up, but loved more when you took care of yourself.
You were still a vigilante, but a semi-retired one. Now you were more focused on your actual job that gave you actual money. Luckily, Jason broke into your apartment on a weekend, so he got the rest of the day to crawl into your cozy arms and snuggle up against you in a lazy day. His favorite kind of day.
Even if things got messy after he got resurrected, because, of course, this is still a Jason Todd story, months passed by and Jason found himself slowly melting into your warmth again.
