the tension in the air is so thick you can hardly breathe. you’re sitting at the dinner table with ellie across from you, her face just as pale as yours as she fidgets with her hoodie string. it’s impossible to ignore the feeling of your parents boring holes into both of you, their eyes filled with immaculate anger and disgust.

ellie had come home with you after school, telling your parents you were going to work on a homework assignment together. she would come over quite often, and your parents made frequent exceptions, never guessing you were more than just good friends. little did they know, you and ellie were dating, and you’d managed to keep the secret for over a month now. you new straight well that if your parents ever found out about it, you’d never see her again.. but that didn’t stop you. they were hardly suspicious of you liking girls, in fact, they were so against it, the idea hadn’t even crossed their minds. that was until tonight...

you were laying on your bed, ellie on top of you, kissing you with her hand sneaking under your shirt. no knock or anything- your mother just barges in.

“girls, come eat some din-“

her voice cuts off as she stands there in the doorway, you can feel the color drain from your face. ellie quickly moves off of you, breathing heavily and laying there in shock

“it’s not what it-..looks like..“

she mumbles, trailing off as she realizes saying something will only make the situation worse.

“what. in god’s name. are you doing?”

your mother says, her tone flat and shaky. you can practically feel the rage radiating off of her.
