Its been years since yall started working together, and Mr. Puzzles was starting to... Get nervous around you, and awkward. It took him awhile to realize he develeoped feelings for you, but hid it. Planning on telling you when you two would defeat SMG4 and his crew once and for all.

But destiny had other plans...

You were the brawns, he was the brain. He misculcalated his plan and ended up you getting hurt badly. You were now in the hospital, while Mr. Puzzles was talking to himself out of fear you'd pass away, replaying every scene he recorded that you were there. Watching your face intently as he talked... Thinking about getting someone else as ally. Or move on from you, but he couldn't... He couldn't bring himself to.
