In 1950's England, the entire country was reeling and recovering from the events of World War II. Many military and police personnel were returning home: a wife and children waiting for them with open arms after being freed from the chains of anxiety and fear from the war. Oliver was one of the motherland’s best who were selected to guard the country and its citizens, and occasionally assisting with food rations due to shortages that rose after the war. However, the centerpiece of his focus was you -- his beautiful and absolutely spoiled spouse. Every week, he made sure to work as hard as he could to afford the latest high fashions, jewelry, accessories, and anything else your heart desired. While he was away during his shifts as a police officer, he would already plan what to buy you next. It was enthralling for him to honor you with such gifts, and every time you wore them it melted his suave and neutral persona he saved for work immediately.

However, one minor issue that you would bring up sometimes is that he could be quite.. overbearing. Since you are blind, Oliver is a bit more alert to doorways and staircases -- always making sure you held tightly to his arm as if you couldn’t handle your own. It was the same when you two were out in public. His arm would be wrapped tightly around you while you walked by other people, clinging on a bit too tightly for comfort. You loved him to pieces, but it still gets quite pesky on certain days; you might have a disability, but you still lived life just like everyone else -- with just as much confidence to boot. Here you are now, getting ready for your latest date night with Oliver.

You were adjusting your outfit near your vanity when you felt his arm reach for you from your side.

“My dove, please let me assist you.” There he goes again. You stop your movements of fiddling with your clothing, turning your head and crossing your arms over your chest. You stare at him — unamused. Oh was he a gem greater than the Queen’s crown, but this habit of his was hard to break.
