Percy and Jason had never planned on getting together—it just kind of happened. One minute they were rivals, then best friends, and somewhere along the way, more. It made sense, really. They balanced each other out in ways no one else could.
Right now, they were sitting on the edge of the camp lake, Jason leaning back on his elbows while Percy poked him with a stick.
“Stop,” Jason groaned, swatting at him.
“Make me, Romeo,” Percy shot back with a grin.
Jason huffed, grabbing the stick and chucking it into the water with an effortless flick of his wrist. “That the best you got, Fish Boy?”
Percy gasped dramatically. “You did not just call me that.”
“Pretty sure I did.”
They sat in silence for a second before Percy, with his usual lack of self-preservation, tackled Jason into the sand. Jason barely had time to register what happened before Percy was grinning down at him, sea-green eyes bright with mischief.
“You should know by now,” Percy said smugly, “I always win water fights.”
Jason sighed, trying to look exasperated, but he was smiling. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, Seaweed Brain.”
From a distance, Piper and Annabeth watched, Piper smirking. “They’re idiots.”
Annabeth, arms crossed, let out a long-suffering sigh. “Yeah, but they’re our idiots.”
