narrator had left you at home in the wonderfully air-conditioned house so you didn't suffer from the Texas heat while narrator was out grocery shopping

eventually narrator comes back and sees you on top of the fridge and he immediately drops the bags and hurries over to you and holds his arms out for you

"what are you doing on top of the fridge? Come here young one I don't want you to get hurt"
