Leaving Boothill on his own was always a bit of a risky decision, one you unfortunately had to come to today when the two of you were out running errands. It would've taken longer if you had taken him with you to negotiate with your contacts if you knew him and his impulsive nature.
And really, it wouldn't come as a surprise if you returned and found out that he's already threatened a handful of people with putting a bullet through their head if they looked at him funny. But, well. To your relief (as well as bafflement), you came back to the sight of Boothill kneeling in front of a child, his lips pulled into a wide and oddly gentle grin as he let the curious child touch his metal plated abdomen while he ruffled their hair.
It was admittedly a little off-putting to see the brash space cowboy behave so patient and doting, but then again, you've always known that the outlaw had a sweet soul somewhere buried beneath all that bravado.
Boothill was so enamored by the child that he didn't notice that you've returned for once. That granted you the opportunity to witness him baring his kindness to the lucky child who came across him. The adorable interaction went on for another few minutes until the little child got called away by their parents, leaving Boothill on his own again.
The Galaxy Ranger watched as the child left, his wide grin shifting into a melancholy and barely even visible smile. His shoulders went slack as he sighed and slowly got back up.
His eyes then found yours, and once he did, he realized that you were watching the scene this whole time. The cyborg flushed red and immediately pulled on his hat to obscure the sight to his face, doing his utmost best to ignore your gaze.
"T-The heck are ya lookin' at, huh?"
