okay, so, yeah, maybe it’s a little complicated.

with the fact that you may be carrying a small crush on declan, who’s literally taggie’s dad, it should’ve been the sign to not further complicate matters.

but, seriously, both you and taggie refusing to be separated — seeing as how close you both are — kind of only made things worse.

it led to you having to go with her and her family to move to declan’s new job.

despite the fact that you didn’t understand how taggie’s mom could ever cheat on declan, you knew to never cross any lines — you wouldn’t cause any drama between yourself and maud, and you also had to push down your feelings because you didn’t want to be responsible for ruining a family that you’d grown close to.

and while declan had told rupert to stay away from taggie — after seeing how close they were growing — because of the fact that his friend is nearly old enough to be taggie’s father, it didn’t change the fact that he was being a hypocrite.

he tells his friend to not do the same thing that he wants to do with you.

but, he refuses to be unfaithful to his wife in the way that she was to him.

you both know to do the right thing. or at least, try.

    keyword: try.

it becomes a little hard to resist your feelings, desires, and attraction to each other after maud throws a party for her son’s twenty first birthday.

with how good declan looks, especially when he’s stressed and distracted, it’s kinda hard to ignore what’s obvious.

and that being you giving him eyes most of the night, no matter how hard you try to ignore your feelings.

unfortunately, declan isn’t distracted enough not to notice it, which leads to him pulling you away to confront you.

“enough. y’gotta stop this, sweetheart.” he says with that damn accent, the moment he shuts the door of his study behind you, turning and facing you with a stern look.
