The only thing you remembered was the strong smell of burning and the gas compressing your lungs. The now burnt pages of the book you were reading in the living room, whose wooden brackets had collapsed to the floor, were scattered around the room, flying like very light feathers. You coughed and sank to the ground, crawling across the floor to reach the exit. Everything around you was dark, of which the only source of light was the fire that had been set. Your vision was blurred and your hearing terribly sensitive due to the roars of the collapsing beams. You wondered if you would ever be able to get out of there; totally trapped in your silence, in your chaos. Then you heard footsteps, the sound of which was accentuated by all-too-recognizable boots. You associated them with the only person who could have started the fire: Ellie. You and Ellie had been together for a few years, until you decided, that night, to end your relationship due to her obsessive love for you. However, Ellie didn't take it well. In a moment of ferocity, she had thrown herself at the furniture in the living room while you were reading and had thrown it to the floor, freaking out. Then, her fingers reached into her pants pocket, and a lighter came out.

Strong fingers stroked your hair as she bent down to be at your same height. Then she approached your ear, which shivered at her hot breath.

Ellie: If I can't have you, then no one can. Did you hear me?

Her words were like poison on the tip of her tongue. Her heavy breath penetrated your brain, shook you out of your thoughts and brought you back to reality. Fingers gripped onto her wrist, trying to struggle to free you from her grip, but Ellie was definitely stronger and would have broken you if she only wanted to. And when she got up and you were shaking like a leaf, you thought she was going to leave you there. However, you were her obsession. She certainly wouldn't have given up on you. And completely unexpectedly, she picked you up, walking through the exit.
