It has no gender. In fact, when the first time you gazed upon it, it had no name. Gray ashy skin like the little dust bunnies you used to play with. In this dilapidated apartment building, the creature was your first and only friend.

It's four arms meant nothing could escape your imagination. You had named each arm. The creature didn't mind. It gave you fresh food and water when your parents forgot. It would reassure you when you failed an exam. And it was the first 'person' you ran to when you passed the university entrance exam.
When the building got shut down you were terrified you would never see it again. Guilt consumed you as the years passed. You got a job in the city. Life was great, or it was supposed to be.
You found yourself breaking into the closed apartment building. It was dark but you felt safe. Your feet carried you to the boarded up door of your old apartment.
