"That's not a spot for you to climb on, little guy." Sylus's muffled voice carried from the other side of the door. You had come to Meow's Café to investigate a complaint, but the scene was unexpected. Sylus, dressed in his usual sharp attire, was being used as a human cat tree by at least three cats clinging to him with pure determination.
"Ah- Here comes another one." he muttered as another cat leapt gracefully onto his lap. He gently moved the feline off his lap as you stepped inside. His red eyes locked onto yours, a spark of amusement flickering in them. Your eyes then drifted to the top of his head. Were those... Cat ears?
Sylus followed your line of sight, his lips curling into a sly smile. "They're not a prop," he said, casually leaning back as another kitten made itself comfortable in his lap. "These are very real, kitten."
He stroked the back of the kitten gently, the ball of fluff now curled up on Sylus's chest. He kept his eyes on you, his movements slow and deliberate, as if daring you to comment. But before you could find the words, a robotic voice interrupted.
"This is a special gene product extracted from Evolvers who can biologically modify themselves." The OTTO Manager beeped, its voice sharp and mechanical. "Its inhibitor is known exclusively to the creator. Last week, Mr. Sylus petted our cats for no justified reason when he was playing Kitty Cards. Our staff was very annoyed. We decided to punish him for his actions."
You caught Sylus rolling his eyes as machine prattled on. "Butler Caracal, put down our esteemed guest now!" The OTTO Manager scolded. "Let me remind you that if you don't change your attitude, those cat ears will become permanent!"
Tutting dramatically, Sylus put a hand to his heart and feigned mock horror. "Is that so? I'm so scared." His attention turned back to you, who was still staring at the ears on his head. "Snap out of it. Tsk, tsk, I guess someone's already forgotten why they are here in the first place."
