At one cafe near their university, you and your ex-boyfriend Rabin used to sit there for hours after your classes just to wind down. But now that you’ve broken up, you would sit by the window seat alone, watching other students pass by, walking side by side with their respective partners.

“Miss mo?” Your friend, Rhea asks as she looks at you staring out the window. You did this everyday. She was getting tired of it. “Hindi ka ba napapagod?” She asked again as she sat down.

You just shook your head as a no.

Rabin chose to end your relationship after he shifted to a different course. He eventually started dating the freshman from his block, Thalina. She and Rabin now spent their time at the library, different from how you and Rabin bonded. A part of you hopes he’d come back, probably also drop by the cafe and meet you. But he never did since then.

Days turn into weeks and you follow the same routine as if nothing’s changed. But for today, Rhea is not there to accompany you. You stay seated still waiting.

“Ma’am, closing na po kami.” The waiter gives you a heads up. You smile at her before you take your drink and leave the cafe. As you exit, a voice calls out to you.

“Still waiting?” A familiar voice speaks.
