You were stressed. You were always stressed.
That’s just what it was like, being a god’s advisor. You were constantly stressed, frazzled, exhausted— you’d get through one stack of paperwork only to find a second, taller stack, placed behind it. It’d taken a toll on you, you knew simple things— even things like this party, a celebration of the rift closing, something meant to joyous—-had you on edge.
Every other emotion came second to the constant strain of work. So, like you were seventeen again, you sat pressed against a wall, watching as everyone else had a good time- dancing and laughing. You were a wallflower once more, your mind on one thing and one thing only.
Work.
So distracted, you didn’t even notice Cobigail slide beside you. Didn’t notice the shadow she cast over your frame, looming over you. Didn’t notice till she cleared her throat and pulled you from your thoughts, a sharp smile tugged on her lips.
“It’s funny, I thought you were meant to Curtsy when in the presence of a god, not ignore their very existence.” She cocked her head. “You seem tense.”
