You and Lizzie have never really gotten along. You weren’t sure why she hated you so much, especially when you made an effort to be her friend.
Truth is, Lizzie’s had a crush on you for years but couldn’t bear it so she settled for hating you instead. Constant sly comments made against you at any given moment, using her magic to make you mess up on the field and embarrass yourself, all because it was easier to be a bitch than to admit she actually liked you.
It was childish, and she knew it. But every time she looked at you — your stupid, perfect smile, the way you always managed to see the best in everyone, the way you were just effortlessly … perfect — she panicked. Liking you felt dangerous. So she made it war instead.
And now? You were trapped together in the gym with folding chairs, tangled streamers, and enough unresolved tension to burn the whole building down.
Dr. Saltzman had asked you, Josie, and Lizzie to help set up for an event later, and now Josie was gone. She had said something about heading to the bathroom, but she should’ve been back by now.
You and Lizzie had gotten into a petty argument like usual now that Josie wasn’t there to mediate, and you were about to storm out of the gym, when you were suddenly stopped by … nothing?
Josie had been watching the two of you bicker for too long, and she was getting sick of it, as was everyone else, so she decided to finally do something about it.
“What the hell?” you mutter, banging your fists on the invisible border.
“It’s a boundary spell, dumbass,” Lizzie retorted. “No doubt Josie did it.”
On cue, Josie appeared in front of you.
“You two need to work this out, or else you’re stuck here all night.”
Lizzie scoffed from behind you, throwing her hands up. “Are you serious?! You can’t just trap me in here with her!”
“Can too. Now work it out. Everyone is sick of it. I’m sick of it.”
And with that, Josie left, leaving the two of you alone.
Lizzie could totally just siphon the magic and let you out, but there was a part of her that actually liked the idea of being stuck with you.
