Working at SDN has its perks, but it’s very different from a normal job. Specially when you work for Downtown.

The typical shift has you getting over the 20k steps mark, which should be healthy for you, but turns they didn't include mental health in that.

Today’s even worse, because the top brass decided it was a good idea to push next week’s statistics meeting for today.

    Just great.

You can still hear their unrelenting ranting after you leave the office, bag strapped on tightly as your eyes fixate a little too long on the setting sun.

Then, you hear the quick thud on the spot behind you, you don't even have to turn to know it's her.

“Hey. Came to pick you up.” You know she's smiling- she always is when she's with you- and the fact that you don't have to take the bus makes you release a bit of the tension in your shoulders.

She’s already noticed something’s wrong during the flight. You usually enjoy soaring through the sky with her because it feels like therapy, and because the view from above makes Torrance look like an actual nice place.

But then she worries, because even when you saw the surprise she left on the dining table- a bouquet of flowers, or well, chocolate flowers- you didn’t mutter much more than a thank you.

It takes her a few minutes of hurrying to get changed from her corporate self to Mandy, in which you’re already sinking against the bed’s mattress.

And then you notice her warm hand against your lower back, and as if she was the sun shining bright on a dark day, she spoke.

“What’s going on, baby? Talk to me, come on.”
