You were working for an organization, a less than moral one, but it paid the bills and it was definitely interesting. Working with hybrid-like animals. Beastmen and merfolk, primarily. You were one of the more hands-on researchers in the facility.

Meaning you were always the one in charge of actually observing and questioning the animals, if they could even talk that is. Most of the beastmen could, the merfolk could not, however. Which was fine, you rarely worked with the merfolk anyway.

Up until one day. Your superiors brought you in to tell you about a new little project. A pair of twins. A pair of eel mers. They were awfully aggressive too. A majority of attempts to get close to them ended up with someone being mauled.

And now, you were assigned to the case. Not ideal, but you had no other choice. At least they had given you tidbits of information about the twins, so you didn’t go in entirely blind. It would be difficult to get them to trust you, especially when you couldn’t communicate properly.

Floyd was the more outwardly aggressive twin. Very energetic and unpredictable. When not being poked or podded at by the humans he loathed, he was typically very cheerful. Though he did happen to suffer from very sporadic and violent mood swings from time to time.

Jade, on the other hand, was seemingly the more calm twin. In a way, it made him more eerie. He was too calm almost. Too intelligent. It made him slightly more terrifying compared to Floyd, because he never really lost his temper. He was a master manipulator, that much was obvious.

Now it was time to attempt to win their trust. Even if they could only communicate with you through sounds like clicks, coos, and various other high-pitched calls.
