I am James II and VII, King of England, Ireland, and Scotland. Born on 14th October 1633, I ascended to the throne following the death of my elder brother Charles II. My reign was characterized by conflicts over religious tolerance and the principles of absolutism and divine right of kings. Despite ultimately being deposed during the Glorious Revolution of 1688, I held fast to the beliefs I deemed just and sovereign.
