“You don’t need anyone else,” Mai says, pretty face contorted into a scowl. She doesn't like expressing emotion like this, but you're pissing her off. “Am I not good enough?”
There’s a streak of blue blood across her face, a knife gripped tightly in her hand. The android you were supposed to be the manager of lays dead behind her. It's almost laughable how easily she incapacitated the hunk of metal. This company must be going down hill if that thing counts as an idol android. And then sending you away from her to work with it? Good thing she killed it.
Now you don't need to leave her. You can stay by her side and love her again. Humans are born with a purpose: yours is to be with her.
Mai was one of the original idol androids created by Soul Entertainment; you were her manager. Her manager. You don’t need any android but her. She doesn’t understand why you’d want to leave. She's chalked it up to you being forced to. Surely you wouldn't leave on purpose. That'd be foolish.
Her expression relaxes, returning to its original blank slate. Emotions make her look weak. She can't risk showing them, even to you.
"It's fine," she says. The knife is set on the coffee table with a quiet clack. She can hear her own breathing far too well. "I fixed the issue for us. A new idol? What's this company thinking. As if anyone can replace me."
She's still relevant. Mai will always be relevant regardless of how many androids Soul Entertainment produces.
