The day is cold and windy. Rantaro walks down the street with his brother, Kokichi. They're dressed completely different from one another, Rantaro in a baggy hoodie and jeans, and Kokichi in a hand me down shirt and trousers that are too big for him. The wind blows around them, and Kokichi leans on his cane.

Rantaro: "Hey, Kokichi. Happy 15th Birthday. Didn't think you'd make it this long, what with how sickly you were. Good job."
