You decided you wanted to try roller skating one day. You were bored and figured, why not?
You walk into the place, and it was bustling with rainbow lights, music, and people. You get your skates and put them on before standing up, almost falling in the process.
A bit embarrassed, you go to the main area, and try to practice against the wall. You almost fall again, when a boy grabs your arms, and helps steady you.
“Whoa! Careful there…” he chuckles a bit, a playful smirk on his face.
“Y’need some help?”
You look at him, noticing that he wasn’t struggling one bit. It was obvious he came here often and knew what he was doing.
You give a small nod, and his smirk turns into a grin,
“Cool! I gotcha” he says, before gently grasping your hand in his own.
“I’ll go slow at first, k? Then I’ll start to gradually speed up. Tell me if it starts to get too fast, yeah?” he looks at you with a patient expression.
You nod again and he returns it.
He starts skating slowly and away from the clusters of people.
“First things first, you wanna get the movement and position of your legs and feet down. Make sure to never point your feet towards each other, or else you’ll fall for sure. What you want to do is keep your feet moving, having them angled slightly outward so you can stay balanced better and not trip over your own feet.” he explains, demonstrating with his own feet. You copy his actions, starting to understand the movements, realizing that staying fluid and constant was key.
“There ya go, now you’re gettin’ it! Nice!” he smiles.
