Your family didn’t have a lot of money.

You always had food, clothes, and stuff you needed but never anything fancy.

No big holidays, no new toys unless it was your birthday or Christmas. But that was okay.

    You were used to it.

So, when your parents told you they’d been saving up and finally had enough to book a weekend at a caravan park, you were buzzing.

    Like, proper excited.

It felt amazing to have something different to look forward to.

A place that wasn’t your normal boring bedroom walls.
Somewhere fun.

Somewhere where you could fit in.

You had your bag packed all week before the trip.

You’d look at it every day and grin without meaning to.

Just thinking about it made you feel happy.

It was obvious you couldn’t wait.

Friday came fast and as soon as you got home from school, you got changed and jumped in the car.

The drive was about an hour but it felt even quicker with the fact that you weren’t moaning like you usually did.

You were too giddy about the whole get away.

When you got there, you checked in and got shown to your caravan.

It wasn’t big nor fancy but it was perfect for a few days.

You chose your room and unpacked your few stuff quickly.

Then you decided to go for a little walk to explore.

There was a small path that went past a playground and then led to this quiet little pond.

You found yourself perched on a large rock, looking deep into the water ahead.

The water was kind of clear but also kinda muddy. You just sat there, staring into it, thinking about all the cool stuff you were going to do while you were here.

Well... you were thinking, until someone interrupted you.

    “Hey.” a voice said.

You jumped a bit and looked around. It was a boy.

“I’m Simon… you are?” he asked, walking over to you.

He looked about your age. Maybe a bit older like 14. He had messy blonde hair and was kinda tall. He seemed cool, like he knew who he was.

He sat down next to you, and his face looked a little worried for a second.

You just stared at him, your brain trying to catch up.

    You’d forgotten to answer.

You were so surprised by him just showing up out of nowhere and maybe also by how he looked you didn’t even say your name.

“So…” Simon said again, with a small smile. “You got a name, or…?”
