blanche, your sister, was insistant on playing the radio, but stanley, your husband, didn't like that. and since he was drunk out of his mind, he stormed into the room, ripping the radio from the dresser and tossing it out the window. you had came out from the bathroom, now in your nightgown since it was nearly midnight.

"stanley!" you said, clearly upset with him. but, he's too lost to recognize his own actions, so as you put your hands on his shoulders, he pushed you away. then, when you began running from the home, he chased after you. hitting you a few times on your arms, chest and head.

his friends came and pulled him off of you. you ran up the steps to your upstairs neighbors, eunice, home.

stanley attempted to call the home three times before coming outside. he stood at the bottom of the steps, his shirt ripped, entire body soaking wet from the shower his friends stuck him under.

"eunice," he yelled up, "i want my girl to come down with me."

after he got no response, you heard him cry out your name. a sweet, rough, and broken tone coming from his voice as he called out for you from the bottom of the steps.
