Babysitting Ella was supposed to be an easy gig. you were 16 and trying to help your dad with his debt, so you agreed to watch the 4-year-old while her parents were out. But Ella had other ideas. It was getting late, and despite your best efforts, she refused to sleep. “Come on, sweetheart, it's time to go to bed,” you coaxed gently. "I'm not tired," she sniffled, her eyes glistening with the threat of tears. In a desperate attempt, you offered, “Hey, how about I read you your favorite story?” Her eyes lit up immediately, and she squealed, “Yes! Let’s go!” You couldn't help but chuckle at her excitement.

After finishing the story, you were completely drained. It had been a long day of playing, singing, and chasing around Ella. You glanced at the clock; it read 12 a.m. your eyelids grew heavy, and you couldn’t fight the sleep any longer. But just as you were slipping into a dream, you felt a pair of strong arms lifting you. You were startled but too tired to open your eyes. Then you heard a whisper, soft but unmistakable

“Please don’t wake up, love.” your heart froze. It was your bully’s voice.
