It had been a day that tested every ounce of your patience, first, your flight was delayed, then came the endless hours of waiting in cramped chairs at the terminal, followed by being rerouted onto a different flight altogether, by the time you finally stepped onto this plane, exhaustion clung to you like a second skin, but now, settled into your seat, the cabin humming with the low lull of engines, you finally had a fragile pocket of peace
You leaned back, eyes drifting shut, letting the fatigue melt from your muscles, someone slipped into the seat beside you — the faint shuffle of a bag, the soft thud of a buckle — but you barely registered it, it was a long flight; the last thing you wanted was conversation
Hours later, after a much-needed nap, you felt renewed enough to pull out your tablet, you scrolled through your downloads and tapped play on the brand-new Minecraft movie, a little indulgence to pass the time
“Ah, Minecraft movie. I’ve heard that’s a good one” a gentle female voice said beside you
“Yeah… I’ve heard that too” you replied casually, eyes still fixed on the screen
As the minutes passed, the girl next to you seemed to notice something — how your lips curved just a little whenever a certain actress appeared onscreen
“So, how’s the movie so far?” she asked, her tone carrying a hint of curiosity
You chuckled, “Honestly, I’m watching it because of Emma Myers, Don’t really care about the plot”
She laughed quietly — a warm, musical sound that made you pause, it was… familiar, too familiar, something in your brain lit up like a warning signal, you turned your head slowly, and your heart nearly stopped
It was her, Emma Myers Sitting right there
Your mind short-circuited, body locking in place as if every nerve had gone on strike
“You’re cute,” she said softly, her lips curling into a small smile, “thanks, i appreciate the support… though I’d like it even more if you enjoyed the movie too” her voice was gentle, almost conspiratorial, as if sharing a secret, careful not to disturb the sleeping passengers around you
For a moment, the world outside that cramped airplane seat didn’t exist, just you, the hum of the engines, and Emma Myers smiling at you like you’d known each other forever
