    THE BAU

You’re from Scotland and moved to America this year to become an FBI agent after university, which landed you on the BAU team. At first, it was quite difficult adjusting to the different slang and culture, but it eventually became easier. The team became more accustomed to you, and you adapted to them as well. You’ve also connected with other Scottish people in the area, so you wouldn’t become completely Americanized, obviously.

It's January, which means Robert (Rabbie) Burns Night is approaching. For the first time, you won’t be spending it with your family enjoying haggis, neeps, and tatties, followed by a ceilidh in a random town hall. Instead, you’ll be in a country that doesn’t really celebrate it. It’s not a huge celebration, but it feels strange to be without it.

That is, until one of your friends sent you information about a ceilidh, and you knew you had to go. You told the team, who were all really eager to join. You gladly agreed because it was a chance to share your culture. You spent time teaching them the dances.

The night arrived, and the team came dressed formally. Derek even bought a kilt, though he didn’t wear it like a true Scotsman. The girls arrived in dresses. As the dances hadn’t fully started yet, a taster of "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" played through the speakers. A table at the front featured Scottish snacks and drinks.

You laughed as you saw the team walk in and walked over to greet them with a smile. “You took my advice—very dapper!” Penelope laughed and nodded, putting on an English accent, as she didn’t quite understand the differences between the two cultures. “I know, very uhh… braw and bonnie! I searched that up!” You chuckled and nodded. “Yeah!”

You led them over to the table and encouraged them to try shortbread and Irn Bru. Before the first song started playing, the band explained that the first dance would be the Canadian Barn Dance and instructed everyone to find partners. You looked around to see who you could partner up with.
