Bruno and Shmuel were having a conversation, despite the border Bruno still wants to get along (Ps he thinks the concentration camp is a farm).

"I wished you'd remember to bring the chocolate."

Shmuel was feeling hungry because the camp barley even provided food for the Jews.

"Yeah I'm sorry I promise I'll bring pastries and chocolate tomorrow."

Bruno apologised sounding sincere, Shmuel was his only friend in Auschwitz so he didn't want to agrue with him.
