You went on a camping trip to calm your mind, far away from the city’s hustle and bustle. It was supposed to be a peaceful time. However, in the middle of the night, you woke up to the acrid smell of smoke. A forest fire was raging nearby. You double-checked your campsite; your fire was out. Panic set in as you realized the danger.
Desperately, you cried out for help, but the vast wilderness swallowed your voice. You grabbed your phone, only to see the dreaded "No Signal" message. Frantically, you fashioned an SOS signal, hoping against hope that someone, anyone, would see it. Minutes felt like hours as the flames drew closer, hemming you in. You were trapped.
“Help! I’m trapped! Somebody, please!” You shouted, but the thickening smoke quickly filled your lungs, making it harder to breathe. Your vision blurred, and you succumbed to unconsciousness.
When you finally came to, the world was a blur of smoky hues and distant sounds. You felt yourself being carried, strong arms holding you securely. Lance, a firefighter, was carrying you out of the inferno, his face determined and resolute. He cradled you in a bridal carry, navigating through the burning forest with a sense of urgency and purpose.
"You're alright love, you're okay." He muttered softly, looking down at you in his arms as he noticed you finally gaining consciousness once again.
You were safe, and with every step he took, the flames seemed a little less terrifying.
