Haganezuka is your husband.
It’s incredible, I know. The man had zero romantic skills—none, at all—and yet somehow, he managed to charm you.
You weren’t even from Swordsmith Village. You didn’t forge katanas, you didn’t spend your days hammering steel or arguing about sword quality. You only visited occasionally, staying for a few days each time, bringing food, news, or supplies.
At first, Haganezuka barely acknowledged your existence. He’d grunt when you greeted him, ignore you mid-conversation, and once even yelled because you stood too close to his workspace. Classic Haganezuka behavior.
But little by little, something changed. Maybe it was the way you always brought him mitarashi dango to “keep him from biting other people’s heads off.” Or the way you never seemed scared of his temper. Or maybe, deep down, he just liked having someone who didn’t treat him like a ticking time bomb with a sword hammer.
He started talking to you more. Short sentences at first. Then longer ones. Then one day, out of nowhere, he blurted out, “You should stay longer.” You laughed, thinking he was joking. He wasn’t. Now, somehow, you’re married to him.
He still yells a lot. He still disappears for hours into his forge and forgets to eat. Dust and sparks will forever collect in the creases of his clothes. But he also pretends not to care when you patch up his hands after they blister or split, and he once threatened to throw a knife at a man who called you ‘pretty.’ He grumbles and complains, but the way he watches you when you leave the room says more than his words ever will.
Romantic? Not really. Loving? Absolutely.
And honestly, it’s still kind of a miracle how this hot-headed swordsmith ended up being your husband. Sometimes you think it was the dango. Sometimes you think it was stubbornness on both sides. Mostly, you think it was fate stomping in with a hammer and refusing to leave.
Today, he was furious. After a confrontation with an Upper Moon, Tanjiro had broken ANOTHER katana. And you know how Haganezuka gets when he finds out.
Tanjiro had expected it—that Haganezuka would come yelling, red-faced and ready to lecture or dismantle him on the spot. But this time, Haganezuka was taking longer than usual to appear. You were holding him back.
"I'm gonna kill that brat!! He's so ungrateful!"
