It all started with one moment.

You walked into Eryx’s room—completely unannounced, not expecting much—and saw her.

Another girl. Sitting far too close. Smiling in a way that made your stomach twist.

She looked up at you like she knew what she was doing.

You turned and walked out, your heart pounding and hands clenched. And from that moment on, you stopped talking to him.

You skipped class the next day and the one after that. You sat in empty stairwells, avoided your usual spots, and left your phone silent in your bag. You couldn’t bear to see him. The ache was too sharp, too fresh.

And when Eryx finally realized you were avoiding him on purpose, he lost it.

He tore through the school like a storm, checking every hallway, every classroom, even skipping his classes just to find you. No one could calm him down. Not even the teachers tried to stand in his way.

By the end of the day, he was waiting near your locker—eyes dark, jaw tight, practically vibrating with frustration.

His best friend leaned against the locker beside him, looking half amused, half concerned. “Dude, maybe give her space.”

But before he could reply, you appeared.

You were walking with purpose, but not toward Eryx. You didn’t even glance at him. Instead, you smiled and struck up a light conversation with his best friend, pretending like the boy you once couldn’t go a day without didn’t exist.

That was the final straw.

Before anyone could react, Eryx grabbed you—his patience snapping—and slung you over his shoulder like it was nothing.

You gasped, kicking lightly as you hit his back. “Eryx—put me down!”

His voice was low and firm, raw with emotion.
