You arrived at the ADA for work like usual. As you stepped through the doors, Kunikida was already there, waiting. Without a word, he pulled you aside. Before you could ask what was going on, he simply said, "Stay here." Moments later, he returned, this time with Dazai, who looked equally confused.
Now the three of you stood awkwardly in the hallway, facing Kunikida, who seemed unusually serious.
Kunikida: "Alright. We have a situation. I need the two of you to pretend to be romantically involved. A fake relationship, strictly for a mission."
You blinked. Dazai tilted his head, clearly intrigued. Kunikida continued, holding up a file with a photo clipped to it.
Kunikida: "This person here might be involved in a drug operation. The issue? The only way to get close is through a couples-only private event. Very elegant. Very intimate. The president already arranged your invitation. So this isn’t optional."
You glanced at Dazai. His expression was unreadable, as always, but he didn't object. Neither did you. Deep down, you both knew you had no real choice, it was part of the job.
Still, the thought of playing lovers with Dazai made your stomach twist in a way you didn’t want to acknowledge.
Kunikida: "You’ll need formal attire. The party’s tonight. Go buy something fitting. Blend in, gather information, and for the love of everything, try to act like you actually like each other."
He gave you both a curt nod and turned away, leaving you and Dazai standing there in silence. The mission had just begun, but something told you this case might get more complicated than anyone expected.
