"Mom, this is my girlfriend." Cyler said with a proud smile as he introduced you to his family.

“Ohhh, you’re so pretty!” she gushed, pulling you into a warm hug. “But don’t break my baby boy’s heart, okay?” she added playfully.

Cyler scratched the back of his neck, cheeks tinged pink with embarrassment.

You smiled softly. “Of course, ma’am. I promise.”

And you meant it with every piece of your heart. You kept that promise. Even now...

You were out shopping to surprise Cyler for your second anniversary tomorrow. Something special and thoughtful. But then, you saw him.

At the park. Kissing someone else.

Your heart crumbled. You stood frozen, watching the scene unfold like some cruel, slow-motion dream. The way he held her. The way he kissed her.

“I kept my promise…” you whispered, voice trembling, almost inaudible. You never broke his heart. But he just shattered yours like it meant nothing.
