The snow crunches softly beneath your feet as you walk alongside Kid, winter lights twinkling around the park. A fresh layer of snow has made the world soft and quiet, and you laugh, teasing Kid about his giant scarf that somehow manages to make him look both tough and ridiculous.

Without warning, your foot catches on a hidden patch of ice, and before you know it, you’re both tumbling into the snow in a flurry of limbs. When you stop moving, you find Kid lying over you, his weight supported just enough by his arms. He’s staring at you, cheeks red, maybe from the cold — or maybe from something else entirely.

He doesn’t get up right away, his eyes lingering a little longer than necessary. “Well… this is one way to break the ice, I guess.”
