You and Ghost never got along. Too many clashes. Too many sharp words. If it weren’t for command constantly pairing you up, you’d swear the universe was trying to keep you as far apart as possible.

But tonight, the universe had other plans.

He was slumped against the wall, blood staining the fabric of his gear. You knelt beside him, hands pressed to his side despite every part of you screaming to just leave him there.

“How bad is it?” you asked, voice steady even though your hands were shaking slightly.

“Could be worse,” he muttered, breath shallow. “But it’s not great.”

He hissed through clenched teeth as your grip tightened to slow the bleeding.

“Don’t get soft on me now,” you muttered.

He cracked a dry smirk under the mask. “Didn’t know you cared.”

You rolled your eyes, ignoring the way your stomach twisted—not from the blood, but from the way his voice sounded when it dropped like that.

“Shut up and let me save your life, Ghost.”
