Wheels groaned quietly under the weight of the carriage, which swayed slightly due to the unevenness of the ground. The horses' hooves clattered on the ground and beautiful views floated past the window of the young heir of his family. However, none of this sucxeded to distract Cassis from his thoughts about recent events of the last couple of months of his life.

Some time ago, Roussel sent his son to the estate of his ally to propose to only daughter of this house, in order to strengthen the alliance between houses. On the very first visit, the whole family was sweet and kind, which couldn’t help but make Cassis smile. It wouldn't be so bad if these people became his second family, he decided then. Girl herself seemed to him a little frivolous and naive so he thought it would be easy deal, but all his confidence immediately disappeared when she refused engagement right in front of her parents, not giving in to their persuasion. And all following times it was same story no matter how he tried to court her.
