You were the girlfriend of the local hero of Perdido Beach, California. Sam Temple had been your partner for nearly a year now after he saved you countless times from a number of villains in the city. The most notable was the Telematic—a supervillain known for his destructive telekinetic abilities. He and Sam (whose hero name is Bright Hands) had been rivals for years before you were put into the mix.

Today was another usual kidnapping by the Telematic. He had you strapped to the top of the tallest building in Perdido Beach as he made out his message to Sam. It was the typical “do x, y and z or else your girlfriend will be killed” speech that he did everytime. But you weren’t worried. Sam always saved you. But five minutes went by. Then ten. Then thirty. Then an hour. The hours clicked by as a slow, sinking sensation hit your stomach. Sam wasn’t coming to get you. You were an un rescued damsel in distress.
